Karl Pierce

I am a theoretical chemist and applied mathematician with a strong background in advanced tensor algebra, quantum mechanics, electronic stucture theory and optimized high performance computer modeling.

My career goals are to find robust applications of modern mathematics and to create tools to solve complex problems using high performance, heterogenous computer architectures and novel algorithms.

I am interested in:
  • Quantum mechanics and electronic structure theory.
  • Higher order tensor albegra and machine learning.
  • Solving multilinear and partial differential equations.
  • High performance computing architectures
  • Heterogenous computing algorithms

  • Outside of science, you can find me riding my bike or baking sourdough. You might also find me hanging upside-down, I am a pole vaulter and have also coached young athletes in the sport.
